Why Every Marketer Needs A Newsletter

Newsletter

Have you ever wondered why you are getting so many newsletters and why it looks as if everybody has his or her newsletter? The answer is simple – because a newsletter has many benefits and also because it is affordable. With the right WordPress newsletter plugin, you can easily add a newsletter to your blog and reap the benefits. Here are just some of the benefits you will be getting when you have a newsletter.

A Newsletter Improves Your Image

It is a basic truth that your image is a really precious asset – lose your good image and your business is gone. Because of this, everything that helps you to improve your image is more than welcome. While there are many ways in which you can improve your image, some of them are not cheap, which makes them unaffordable for a small company or an individual. However, this isn’t the case with newsletters.

A newsletter is a cheap way to make you look a reputable company/individual. A newsletter is a reminder to all your subscribers that you exist (and that your site is worth visiting). After all, when all your competitors have newsletters this must be not because they have no other ways to spend their time but because a newsletter helps them in their business. Of course, launching a newsletter simply because everybody else is doing it isn’t a wise approach but since a newsletter is working for your competitors, there must be a way to make it work for you, too.

A Newsletter Keeps Your Users Informed

Timely and true information is precious today. All of us have missed great offers simply because we didn’t learn about them at the right time. If you want to save your users this disappointment, a newsletter is a great way to keep them informed about forthcoming events, promotions, new products, discounts, etc. Just post a message about these in your newsletter and you will see an overwhelming response. Even if a small fraction of your users are actually reading your newsletter, if you have a huge subscribers’ base, your message will reach hundreds or thousands of potential clients.

Your New Newsletter Subscribers Are Potential Clients

If a business is to be successful, it needs to constantly expand and reach new potential clients. With new newsletter subscribers you achieve this. When a person, who isn’t a customer yet, subscribes for your newsletter and you manage to retain their attention, it is almost certain that sooner or later this person will start buying from you.

The trick here is not only to attract new users but also to retain them. Sometimes you will see conversions right away – i.e. you publish a hot offer in your newsletter and new subscribers buy right away but you’d better be prepared for delayed purchases. Still, since you acquire new customers, you should be happy.

You Can Reach a Huge, Targeted Audience at (Almost) No Cost

The cost to acquire new and retain existing customers via a newsletter is times lower than the cost for other channels. Just compare the costs you have for launching and running a newsletter to the costs for PPC and other forms of ads and you will be astonished how cheap newsletters are to reach a huge audience. What is more, your newsletter subscribers are a targeted audience – since they have signed up for your newsletter, this means they are interested in your niche and in your products/services in particular. The cost and the precise targeting make newsletters a top choice for any marketer and advertiser.

A Newsletter Is a Channel for Special Offers

Your loyal users deserve a special treatment. What better way to do it than by sending them special offers? If you regularly include in your newsletter special offers that are exclusive (i.e. they aren’t available on your site or in your store), your users will appreciate it and will start looking for every new issue of your newsletter. These special offers will be making you money, so you can’t complain you are giving good stuff for free or for no profit.

Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with your clients and to sell them your products/services. With some minor effort and an upfront investment in a good WordPress newsletter plugin, you will be able to achieve many goals.

Really important points mentioned here. Newsletters are great way to tell your subscribers about your new offers and ask them to visit their site by telling them what’s going on on your site.

Newsletter is powerful way of marketing and earning money but before that you need to build trust among your subscribers so that they won’t hesitate to buy your referred products.

    Hi Aanchal,

Absolutely correct – if your subscribers don’t trust you, your newsletter won’t help much because nobody will put their money on an offer advertised by a scammer.

Very well composed post Ada and nice point Aanchal. News letters are among few cost effective ways to increase your customer base and sales. When used wisely, newsletters can boost the sales significantly. But also to get the maximum benefits of newsletters we should have a huge list of subscribers to send our newsletters to.

I agreed that newsletter will give the marketer more visibility. Then again the content of the newsletter must be of quality stuff right? 😀

I hadn’t even thought of starting a newsletter before reading this, but now it is starting to sound like a really good idea. My question is can you put google ads in newsletters?

  • Ada November 22, 2011, 12:13 pm

Absolutely right – you can’t be a successful newsletter marketer if your subscriber base is next to nothing and your content is poor. You need lots of users, targeted at that and good content to make it. You don’t need tons of content, if this is scaring you but its quality is out of question. As for Adsense, as far as I know, you can’t place it in emails (including newsletters) unless it is in a feed. Here is what I found on their site: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=115993

It’s funny – I just got off of another blog I frequent and she was also posting about the benefits of a newsletter – you’re right – it is the way to go these days!
