You managed to get a blog off the ground and now seek to create and grow a Facebook presence. A smart move considering that Google mightily favors the social media giant, plus becoming a part of Facebook is a fantastic way to engage your market. If this describes you, let’s take a run down on ways to incorporate Facebook into your business blog.
Facebook Like Box – this is probably the most popular method employed by many blog owners. It comes from Facebook itself under the “plugins” page and essentially you just need to grab the code given to you by Facebook and then place it on your blog. Once you’ve added the Facebook Like box visitors and readers will be able to quickly and easily become a fan of your page, all without ever leaving your blog. You can place the like box on your sites sidebar, before a post, after a post or on the About page. Your choice.
Facebook Like Button – this is a Wordpress plugin that you upload to your blog and it will display the LIKE blue button on your pages. You can choose which pages and the location, such as at the top or bottom of a page. This differs from the box above in that each time someone presses the like button on an article of yours, it shows up on a persons Facebook stream.
WP Greet Box – this is a nifty little Wordpress plugin that allows you to capture a readers attention as they enter your blog. The cool thing about WP Greet Box is that you can customize it to promote what you wish. For our purposes, letting your readers know you have a fan page on Facebook is at the top of the list.
Facebook Comments Wordpress Plugin – many blog owners are opting to do away with the default comment system in Wordpress and instead use this plugin at for getting mentions of your article on status updates and also potentially bring in traffic and more readers.
Facebook Send Button – the latest addition in sharing in social media is the Send button on Facebook. This send button allows a reader to do as the name of the button implies, send the article (via email) to whomever they choose. Although many are on Facebook and use it daily, email is still king when it comes to digital communication. That’s my best guess as to why the feature was recently added.
If you haven’t yet noticed, the key is variety. Give your readers as many options as possible to consume and or share your content. Some people prefer to share via the LIKE button while others may prefer to become your fan and follow along on your fan page directly.
Feel free to add one or all of the above methods to your blog and watch your Facebook presence soar and reach new heights. Have a method not mentioned above? Share it below in the comment area, I want to hear it.
