Advantages of Dedicated Server Hosting

Based on your website’s needs there are several different hosting options available. However, you may want to take a look at a Dedicated Server Hosting plan as such a plan is suitable for all types of online businesses. A dedicated hosting plan provides each customer with his or her own dedicated server i.e. all the resources on the server are available for use by a single customer. This kind of arrangement is known to offer high performance levels and more reliability than other hosting plans. This is the reason why dedicated hosting is popular among larger businesses establishments.

Some of the main features of a dedicated hosting plan are listed as below:

Multiple Domain Hosting
An advantage of using a dedicated hosting plan is that unlike a simple shared hosting plan, you can easily place multiple domains and websites on the same server. This would enable you to use the resources of a single sever to accommodate several different websites and thus save yourself from the cost of purchasing hosting for each website that you want to host.

Another benefit is that since all your websites would be hosted at a single server, management of those websites would become easier. Also you would not be required to learn new administrative features every time you host a new site.
Service. Since all resources of the server would be allocated to you only, there would be no memory restrictions or storage restrictions for your website.

Dedicated hosting also comes with premium spam filtering capabilities that will help you see a 98% drop in spam, counter security threats such as phishing, viruses, fraud and other unauthorized communication. The exchange spam filter come with a seamless integration with Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010, Lotus, and all other standard based email servers.

Most of the web hosts also provide dedicated helpline numbers and enhanced customer service to those who are using dedicated hosting, something that might come in handy in case of a server problem. This kind of enhanced customer service is what makes dedicated hosting a good choice for small and large businesses.

Security
Security is a very important aspect when it comes to hosting plans. A dedicated hosting provides for a dedicated IP address for each of the websites hosted on it, whereas in case of a shared hosting plan many websites share the same IP address, which means that the websites which share an IP address with your website can affect the status of your website. For example, if a site sharing an IP address is banned or found guilty of some suspicious activity, then every website on that IP would also get flagged down. This may affect the credibility of your online business.

Reseller Hosting
If you have leased a dedicated server, you have the right to share the resources of the server according to your will. This means that you can sell server resources to other people, thus enabling you to make a profit from your dedicated hosting service. This method is a great way to generate some extra income and pay for server costs for individuals who do not need all the server space allocated to them. An important point regarding reselling hosting is that you can decide what plans and resources you want to sell to your customers and at what prices. Therefore you have the ability to create custom hosting plans to attract more and more customers.

These are some of the advantages of using a dedicated hosting and if you are running a small or a large online business then dedicated hosting may be the best option for you.

Do you run your website on a dedicated server ? What are the other advantages to using it ?

Yes any serious business with a lot of website traffic should be on a dedicated server. When you are on a shared server there are potential problems with sharing the server's resources with other websites. You might slower server response time at certain times of day. Since site load speed is an acknowledged part of the Google algorithm, be sure that you have sufficient hosting resources for your websites.

We have considered this, but a person really needs to know what they are doing when embarking on the dedicated server hosting. I like being able to call tech support. :)

Yes for some people it makes more sense to stick with a managed solution. You can still get a dedicated server, but let the hosting company take care of it.

Yes I actually do have a dedicated server, and personally I love it! The best thing that I love about having your own server is that it is you that have full control over it. And the speed and reliability is tremendous compared to shared hosting that I was previously on. Till then, Jean

I had some experience with VPS hosting but when I switched to dedicated server it was really lightening fast. I would suggest that a cheap dedicated server is better than any VPS package.

As far as I know, The Planet and EV1 (now The Planet) along with SoftLayer and Fast Servers.net I would say are the biggest and the best in the industry.

@Tej, I am not sure you can outright say that it will help save resources... What having a dedicated server does... is put the full control in your hands... so if you know what you are doing than yes certainly you can get better performance, and save in the long run but, it's alot more hands on, and not everyone will experience the same thing. Till then, Jean

I'm planning to move my websites to a dedicated server hosting. Currently my websites running at a shared web hosting company are not opening sometimes due to excessive traffic.

If your websites are sometimes not opening at all on a shared server, you may have chosen a lousy web hosting company. A shared server may make websites slow sometimes, but they should still load. If they are not loading at all, your hosting company should be able to resolve that by balancing resources themselves.

Sheer speed is the first obviously advantage to having dedicated hosting. Since it's only your website on there, you won't be slowed by others or people abusing the hardware with malicious scripts etc.

I think Hosting your web sites on your own dedicated server may seem a little expensive in comparison to shared web hosting, but the end result is more advantageous. Shared web hosting, no matter how well managed, cannot be 100% reliable and stable. However if you have your own dedicated server you can manage to avoid most of the variables affecting the reliability and stability of a server, commonly experienced by shared hosting accounts; variables such as: overload, bad codes and scripts from other users (especially beginners); and, too many applications and components uploaded, and so on.Thanks for sharing it with us.

I have had a dedicated server with Rackspace for the past year and I don't think I could ever go back to a shared hosting environment. Also, I know Rackspace aren't cheap but they are absolutely excellent in their support and, as always in life, you get what you pay for.
