Apple Watch pre-orders close to 1 million on Day 1

The much awaited numbers on the pre order of Apple watch on day one is out. It’s not about the watch but about how many orders have been booked for the Apple watch.

Estimates have it that close to 1 million apple watches have been pre orders on the first day – A staggering 9,57,000 people ordered the smart watch in US. With more than 60% going for the basic model of the apple watch.

On an average a shopper bought more than 1 watch ( 1.3 watches ), spending $503.83 a watch. Apple shoppers spent an average of $382.83 a watch for the Apple Sport and $707.04 for the mid segment Apple watch. Slice intelligence has more data on this.

Apple is expected to sell about 10 million Apple watches this year. The result of their stock prices will depend on the success of the Apple Watch.

Will they beat estimates or fall short ?

Two months back i had read somewhere that apple is going to lose lot of it's money because of apple watch. It was also written that the maximum customers for apple watch would be the existing customers who have apple phones. I guess the predictions have gone wrong.
