Yahoo Buzz went public this week, the launch was much anticipated by a lot of blog publishers to leverage the strength of Yahoo’s traffic.
The benefit is that top buzz stories are linked from the Yahoo home page which gets tons of traffic on the story. When those stories hit the Yahoo home page there is a good chance that the site linked will have a record day in traffic.
Yahoo released some data when the application was in the beta stage.
Yahoo sent 16 million visitors to outside sites in the first two weeks and they’ve gathered data from some of the linked partners as below
– Salon.com said they received 1 million uniques that day the most in 12 years since the site was launched.
– US Magazine was linked from Yahoo on February 27, and had the second highest traffic day ever. 32% of visits that day came from the Yahoo home page.
– Huffington Post received 800,000 unique visitors from a Yahoo-linked story
-Smoking Gun, Portfolio.com, Dallas Morning News and Imaginova all reported significant traffic increases after links from the Yahoo home page.
-Sugar, Inc. sites have had nearly 1.8 million unique visitors sent from five different Buzz stories on the Yahoo home page
This application has potential to increase traffic for bloggers on their site. Reviews across the web compare the application to have more potential than Digg.
Download the Yahoo Buzz plugin and get set to see a growth in your traffic.
