Chris Pearson the co-founder of the Wordpress Thesis Theme released the latest Thesis version last week – Thesis 1.8 for wordpress users. If you are a Thesis user you can now download the new version when you login into your Thesis account.

The new version is a lot slicker and has got some awesome features, if you are a die hard Thesis fan you know what I mean 🙂 The Thesis Theme just gets more solid and custom friendly with each upgrade.

I just upgraded to Thesis 1.8, the upgrade was very easy and smooth, you can see that I’ve also changed the blog design slightly to reflect the gravtaar images of authors on this blog. Such is the flexibility of the Thesis Theme.

Thesis Theme 1.8 comes with more customization and flexibility options, some of the features of the new version are as below:

– Header Image uploader:
The Thesis Theme 1.8 comes with an in built image uploader, this help you to to browse upload your logo or header banner into the theme.

– Enable and Disable option for Windows Live Writer:
Windows Live Writer is an important tool for blogging, in short it helps you to post blog articles from your desktop. You have to go through a set up process if you are blogging on any other theme but the Thesis 1.8 version allows you to enable and disable the Windows Live Writer with a single tick mark.

– Wordpress 3.0.1
Another awesome feature of Thesis Theme 1.8 is that it is fully compatible with Wordpress 3.0.1 navigation menu support.

– New Google Fonts:
The earlier version did not have a lot of font option, the new theme version has an addition of 28 new web fonts from the Google font directory. All the fonts are hosted by Google and can be seen by anyone browsing your blog, so you don’t have to worry about users not having a certain fonts installed on their system.

– Friendly SEO Features:
Thesis Theme is a very friendly SEO theme, the code is minimal and that helps search engines index your Thesis blogs much faster. The Thesis Theme 1.8 shows the number of characters in the title and description field and tells you the exact number of characters that will help your posts get indexed faster on Google.

– Easy Favicon Uploader:
You don’t need a plugin to upload your favicon , all you need to do is browse your local disk and upload it from the thesis theme. The lesser the plugins you have on your blog faster the load time. Thesis Theme helps in faster download as most of the plugins are in built in the theme.

Thesis 1.8 is incredible, what I love about thesis is that you can base all your sites on one framework and buy custom skins so you don't have to be a professional designer to have a nice site. Best theme by far.

Very helpful article on WLW. Just setting up WLW to work with Thesis, however, how do you do the SEO in WLW (description, keywords) without logging into Wordpress and adding it in Thesis there?

Just read buldog marketing technique, saying that free theme of any wordpress will damage your SEO effort.Please can anyone share about this?whether it is accurate??If this is true, can we designed our own template by using photoshop and upload to free theme WP in any versions?? it says to date the newest is WP 3.0 consider to be high rank in SEO technique??
