Facebook with its 400 million active users has been in the limelight for making some major changes to the user experience.
Facebook has dropped “Become a Fan” button for its fan pages to “Like” button citing that “Like” is a more globally understandable language, the “Like” button will also be more lightweight on the page and will encourage a lot of interactions.
Users will still be able to connect with pages of their favorite bands, celebrities, TV show hosts and others by clicking the “Like” button. It also announced that it will remove Facebook Lite and take down the fb.me URL shortner. Facebook is also expected to ramp up its Facebook Connect service that allows users to log in to various sites with their Facebook details.
At the F8 developers conference in San Francisco this week Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Facebook’s bid to put itself at the center of the web by announcing the next generation of Facebook platforms (with “Like” buttons becoming universal symbols). Facebook is all out to become a more personal web player to connect with Facebook users around the globe. The “Like” buttons have also been extended to the advertising platform and other application platforms on Facebook.
I like the new “Like” button and the strategy to use it across Facebook, it has a very personal touch about the users intent and liking for a particular ad, product, service or application on Facebook.
The “Like” can further be extended to the overall Facebook brand identity and user loyalty. We may just see a major “Like Facebook” ad campaign in future.
Do you think that Facebook should also add a “Dislike” button ? If you Like this post click on the “Like” button below – “Like” it
