The actor, the director, the writer, the fighter, the legend ….that’s Bruce Lee for you. I consider Bruce Lee to be one of the most influential youth icons of the 20th century. His films and stunts took martial art movies to a different level, a lot of us wondered if his swift and fast moves were actually real or were they tricks of the camera that made it look real.
Bruce Lee was one of the first to make Chinese martial arts popular in the west. He was skinny and weighed very little but the legend was fast as lightening. Bruce Lee’s philosophy lives on through is work in martial art – Jeet Kun Do.
We sure know Bruce Lee the super star actor but not many of us know Bruce Lee the philosopher and his determination to push mind and body to a different level.
Below are 12 Powerful Life Lessons from Bruce Lee:
Life Lesson 1: “Be Yourself: Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own.”
Life Lesson 2: “Be flexible in your approach, learn from everybody and everything, don’t get locked in a particular style.”
Life Lesson 3: “Master your mind and body, its just not enough to be smart, its just not enough to master your body. Your body and mind support each other. Your body helps turn what you think or dream up into results.”
Life Lesson 4: “Apply what you know: Just knowing is not enough, you must apply; willing is not enough, you must do. Test your self all the time.”
Life Lesson 5: “Keep an open mind. You have to be willing to throw out what you already know and have a curiosity to explore new paths. If you’re cup is already full, you can’t learn new things. First empty your cup.”
Life Lesson 6: “Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”
Life Lesson 7: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
Life Lesson 8: “If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.”
Life Lesson 9: “Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”
Life Lesson 10: “A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.”
Life Lesson 11: “The less effort, the faster and more powerful you will be.”
And My Favorite Life Lesson 12: “Take things as they are. Punch when you have to punch. Kick when you have to kick.”
Have a Super Sunday and a Great Week Ahead 🙂
