Good Morning Sunday: Three Simple Rules in Life

Life is simple. We complicate it.

One of our readers sent me this awesome Three Simple Rules in Life, they hold so much value and are so true in everyday life.

Let us all live by these three simple rules of life

Rule #1 – If You Do Not Go After What You Want, You’ll Never Have It

– Life is not easy, you’ll not get what you want just by think about it. You’ll need to work hard to get what you want, you’ll need to put in a lot of action to be what you want to be. There are no short cuts to success. Take massive action to make it happen.

Rule #2 – If You Don’t Ask, The Answer Will Always Be No

– My ex boss once told me – “Ask and you shall receive”. Don’t let the fear of negativity or rejection stop you. A lot of times we miss out on good things by not asking or not communicating about it. There is always a high chance that you might get a “Yes” for what you want.

I happen to see one of Steve Jobs interviews recently and he said, most people never get what they want because they never ask.

He cites his own example…when he was 12 and in high school, he called up Bill Hewlett (co-founder of Hewlett-Packard Company) and asked him if he had any spare parts to build frequency counters. Bill not only gave him the parts but also gave him a summer job on the assemble line working on frequency counters.

You can see the Steve Jobs video below, where he talks about the importance of asking. The difference between being successful and failing is most of the times not asking.

Rule #3 – If You Do Not Step Forward, You’ll Always Be In The Same Place

– You can’t be living life and waiting for things to happen. You need to make things happen. You need to be prepared to fail and burn out. You need to be tough, when the going gets tough. You’re success depends on your ability to take risks and failures.

Do you live life by these rules ? Try working with these rules this week and I am sure you’ll be in a better position to take challenges and over come them.

Have a Super Sunday and a Great Week Ahead 🙂

Great post I agree with you on the three rules. Many think and plan but never end up executing. Execution is the most important step as if you never start you'll never manage anything..

Hi ZK, A very inspirational Sunday post, and I am glad I have read it here in your blog! I definitely liked rule #2 – if you don’t ask, the answer will always be no. I can totally relate to this. When I was a kid, I was quite the shy type, to the point that I do not talk even if I wanted to ask or tell something to other people. When I grew a bit older, I gained some confidence and I learned that if I do not ask or tell others my opinion about something, I would not learn anything new. Sometimes some people are amused at my simple questions, but when I explain to them that I’d rather look silly (or plain ignorant) to them and get to learn some things than pretend I know everything and end up not knowing anything at all.
