Good Morning Sunday: Why Schools Should Teach Happiness

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that Happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “Happy”. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” – John Lennon

Today’s Good Morning Sunday series we bring you an inspiring Ted Talk by Logan Laplante, a 13 year old much beyond his maturity. He talks to a packed Ted audience on why teenagers in school should be taught – How to Live Happy & Healthy

“When I grow up I want to be happy, just like I am now.” – Logan LaPlante

His talk is not just about health and happiness, he goes beyond this to look at how to develop a “Hacking” mindset (Now what is a Hacking mindset ? Watch the video to know more about it ) to do what ordinary minds can’t think of doing. To do something crazy and innovative that makes your life better.

He cites examples of Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg who had hacking mindsets to change the world.

Logan’s speech has impressed me, he’s a perfect testament to non traditional schooling. At 13 I could never have delivered such a fantastic speech to a high level audience, I would struggle even now.

What do you think about Logan’s Ted talk ?

Have a Super Sunday and a great week ahead 🙂

Wow thanks for the share man! I read somewhere ( can't remember the source...but it was credible) that children in Japan are taught manners in school instead of books till a certain age. But teaching happiness... this is something essential. Because all schools teach today is how to "win". It isn't a horse race. Schools should teach manners, happiness and create a desire in children to innovate. Excellent find ZK. Cheers.

Hi There was a survey in the papers here in the UK this weekend that we are least happy when we are at work. I think John Lennon had it right. R John

A very nice article. Happiness is what we live for and hence this must be thought to all the kids out there.
