Google Guide on How to Avoid Getting Hacked

Being hacked is every web business owners nightmare, if you’re business is on the web you need to ensure that you’ve invested in the best tools and products to avoid being hacked. To make things easy for webmasters, Google recently announced help for hacked sites – A complete step by step instruction guide and videos to help you with the process.

The below video features Maile Ohye from Google’s Webmaster Support Team, she along with her Googler colleagues have conceptualized this program to educate web owners on – what to do when your site gets hacked. And how to start the recovery process.

Google Webmaster Tools has always alerted web owners about a malware on their site or blog, but the approach from Team Google has gone one step ahead in educating you on how to fix the site and how to get the warning removed from Google’s search results.

The nice part about the program is the step by step videos in the recovery process. You’ll learn where to find technical expertise and how to contact your Host. Ideally, I would recommend you to host your site with a sound hosting company. This blog runs on HostGator, and I’ve been extremely happy with their service and support system.

Majority of bloggers and web owners work hard to build content and design for their blogs and website but very few work towards ensuring that their website is secure and protected from vulnerabilities.

Take all measure to avoid getting hacked. You don’t have to be a geek to secure your site, you have to be wise 🙂

Has your blog or website ever been hacked ? How did you manage the recovery process ? Let me know what you think about this initiative from Google ?

Thanks for the article. This is a sad fact of the 20th century that we live in. We all need to be more proactive about our personal account security. I agree with you on points. Google rocks indeed. It is something that could be a solution for hacked sites. I even agree if they improve this service and sacrifice Google reader for it)

One of my blog was badly hacked and so we had to delete that blog. But due to this, the traffic and probably the reputation of our service website in front of Google has been deteriorated. Till now I have been working on regaining my service website's traffic, but all the support blogs of recovery after getting hacked doesn't work in practical situations.
