Google Launches Internet Beaming Balloons to Reach a Wider Audience

Is Google a Search Engine ? Well, not any more, its more than just a search engine – it now wants to control every aspect of the internet and online space. Talk of space, they just launched a few balloons in space last week.

Project Loon – Their new innovation from the lab that bought you Google Glasses. The idea of launching these balloons is to cover the world with internet access.

According to Google data more than 75% of the world has no access to internet. The balloons will help beam internet down to earth, Google plans to launch these balloons 12 miles in space to bridge the gap between the internet haves and the have nots.

The first Google balloon was launched last week in Tekapo, New Zealand – A spectacular site with the Alps in the background. Google plans to launch thousands of these jellyfish like translucent balloons to help us reach a wider internet audience.

What do you think about this one from Google Labs ? I think is awesome 🙂

I think it's a neat idea and I'm sure they have their profitable reasons for why they are launching these balloons.

Won't this also increase computer sales? For I cannot imagine that many people who do not have internet would have a computer.

This is an awesome project, didn't really think Google would do something like this but it's great that they did.

I think this is an awesome service my question is how long will these ballons last up there in space , how do they keep them in a specific area I saw the solar panels at the bottom of the ballon that obviusly will keep there internet transmitter going but probably not enough to run motors to keep the ballon in a certain area. on the bright side put enough of them up in the sky a few trillion and we might have a way to lower the earths tempature :)
