The SVP of Google Social Vic Gundotra has announced that Google+ will support Google Apps accounts within the next few days. This was revealed during a Q&A session at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. He clarified that it will be coming within the next few days.
The company did not launch Google Apps support during the original release of Google+ as they thought they would get more time and wanted to hit a scale before going ahead with it. But the success of Google Plus has forced them to add new features and updates. The success was unexpected.
Google plus has about 40 million users and the company has had to rethink its product update strategy. Their first focus has been on scaling the social network so that its works smoothly for all users. Google also announced that Google plus will soon support pseudonyms but this will take some time.
Google plus initially only allowed users to sign up using their real names, but it will add support for pseudonyms, nicknames and other forms of identity in the near future.
Gundotra mentioned that about 3.4 billion photos have been uploaded on Google plus in the last three months and they were amazed at the number.
Developers have been waiting for the launch of Google plus API’s but the company has been a bit cautious in releasing them. He mentioned that they want them to be fully tested and ready before handing them out.
Are you on Google Plus ? What has been your experience? Will Google Apps help get more users to Google Plus
