I started this blog about 18 months ago without a logo. I never had a logo on this blog, the logo was always text based.

I also designed my logo for my site freelancingon-net.com from a crowdsourcing website. The contest listing is FREE there. You only have to pay prize money and a 5% handling fee. Nothing else.

Personally I also prefer design contest over the traditional design firm. But connecting designer directly with the logo buyers, it save the cost associated with maintaining a office. Also, for logo design, having a big selection is also important. -Jill
