While Google has been hinting about integrating real time search results for its organic searches, Microsoft has gone a step ahead and launched BingTweets.com.
BingTweets is an integrated search platform that combines results from Bing and Twitter. This is one of the most awaited search integration since the term “real time searches” became an instant hit with the success of Twitter. As a Twitter addict and a firm believer that real time searches is the future of organic search results I am excited about this integration.
BingTweets is a nicely designed site backed up with an amazing value proposition. The site has been developed with Federated Media who also Microsoft sponsored ExecTweets.com. With the launch of BingTweets Microsoft seems to be testing the potential of “real time searches” and has now positioned itself as a serious threat to Google.
It seems certain that there will be more Twitter integration from Bing in the coming months, according to the Bing team, “many people share their thoughts on Twitter, and search engines don’t currently do a great job of capturing that real-time content. We designed Bing to help you make faster, more informed decisions, and, since people often turn to real-time content to help them make decisions, BingTweets was a logical next step.”
The real integration however would be to integrate real time search data from Twitter into Bing’s search results instead of displaying it side by side. For now Microsoft’s experiments with Bing seems to have paid off well.
