New Tiger Woods Nike ad: A wise comeback strategy ?

A new Nike commercial featuring Tiger Woods has been on air since last night, the new Nike ad appears to be Tiger’s deceased father – Earl Woods voice in the background. Earl’s voice appears to be scolding Tiger from the grave.

During the 30 second ad Earl says, ” I want to find out what your thinking was, I want to find out what your feelings are, and did you learn anything”, while Tiger just stands in front of the camera emotionless wearing a Nike cap.

Is the voice of Tiger Woods’ deceased father in the Nike commercial a piece of marketing brilliance or just a gimmick to distance the number one golfer from the recent
scandal ?

I think is a good strategy to move the story beyond Tiger Woods’ extramarital affairs, which had dominated the media for months. What are your thoughts ? Do you think other brands like Accenture that Tiger endorsed will follow a similar marketing strategy ?

Oh man, they removed the commercial from Youtube. :( I really wanted to see it, maybe I'll see it on television. Anyways, I think it was a good strategy and a few other brands may try the same but I think he may have lost a few sponsors for at least awhile or maybe for good. .-= Mathew Day´s last blog ..PLR Software Ultimatum – Make Your First Ebook, PLR articles Package, or Create a List =-.

Indeed it is a cool marketing strategy. The media should leave him alone. The people who dropped him should take a look at themselves if they did something similar!!! I am pretty sure that this is the case in most cases. .-= link building services´s last blog ..Buy .edu Backlinks: How to Get .edu Backlinks from .edu Web Sites =-.

Sadly, that is the case with our hypocritical society. Not that I agree with Tiger's habits and practices even, but many people in the media and otherwise, talk like they're completely pure. Anyway, about the advertisement, I haven't caught it yet and it's gone from Youtube. :( Till then, Jean .-= used tires´s last blog ..Used Tires =-.

It's a very powerful commercial, kind of creepy too... considering his dad is deceased. Personally If I was Nike, I would not have aired this commercial. I would have probability aired a more positive commercial. .-= Car Battery Starter´s last blog ..How a Does a Car Battery Work? =-.

This ad feels like an interrogation. Poor Tiger. Poor cheating millionaire.

It is unfortunate Tiger Woods feel the need to explain his personal activities to anyone other than his wife and family. Mainstream America and its unacceptable substandard value systems are in no position to judge, point fingers, and or berate anyone. While I personally would never condone his behavior, the reality is the news media, paparazzi and nay-sayers are more than gulty of the same offenses in their personal lives. I say Tiger, tell America to 'f-off 'and just play Golf!

No matter what, Tiger has already his name chiseled in many people's minds. He is still a hot commodity and Nike knows it. .-= Wealth Creation´s last blog ..Hello world! =-.

I actually found the ad to be in very poor taste. He wants his family left alone then he brings them into the discussion. He can't have it both ways. It will turn potential customers off.
