Establishing a strong online presence for your business can be complicated, and true success doesn’t come overnight. To blow away your sales goals, you must cultivate both a loyal audience, and a large and diverse set of inbound links.
The best way to attract high-quality inbound links is to write amazing content. If you want to attract a bounty of natural links, you must create content that is both useful and unique to your audience. However, if you are just starting out, your site won’t rank well enough to generate much traffic.
After all, nobody will link to content they never find! If you are new to the world of online business, your primary objective should be to attract natural links by making your website or blog easier to find.
Here are six tips to get your website off of the ground.
1. Interact
Interact with other bloggers and webmasters in your niche. Research the web to see if they are any networks or organizations you can join. Volunteer to appear on podcasts or submit guest posts. If they accept your invites, the other bloggers are likely to link back to your site.
2. Link to Other Blogs
Don’t be shy when linking to other sites. Link to content that would interest your readers. They’ll appreciate it. Furthermore, many search engine optimization professionals believe that Google actually rewards quality external linking. As an added benefit, webmasters may notice that you have linked to them, and return the favor.
3. Become an Online Resource
While most of your content may be opinion-heavy, try providing some clear, accurate, and factual data. Charts and infographics can be great link bait. Bloggers often cite factual data to support their opinions by linking out.
Providing valuable resources will make your site the resource to which they link.
4. Be Unique
Whatever you do, don’t publish content that has previously appeared on the web. Furthermore, make sure your articles are exclusive to your own site.
You don’t want to spend excessive time writing amazing, original, and influential articles for your website and then distribute them around the web. You want your content to attract links to your site, not your partners.
5. Stay Focused
Remember your ultimate objective. Whether your goal is to sell goods or services, remember that you want to influence your readers to buy from you. Reference your products and services in your posts, and explain how they can add value to your readers.
The links you generate to posts describing your services will help them appear higher in search results.
6. Stay the Course
Link building takes time, and generating thousands of quality links in a short period of time is a rare anomaly. As your content and SERPs improve, you will gradually attract more and more links.
Set a traffic goal approximately twelve months out. Stay consistent, stay at it, and over time you will begin to see your traffic, and ultimately, sales grow.
