My Cousin was once the managing Director of a shopping mall that later became one of the best shopping mall in our locality. During her tenure as the MD, the shop did very well in sales. In fact, sometimes, their sales went up to over $5,000 a day in profit until a bad incident struck.
They woke up one day and found that some of their long time customers no longer buy their products and even their new prospects don’t patronize them again. The incident grew to the extent she was almost sacked. She came home back that very day worried, and she told me the incident that has been happening in her office. I advised her to give some incentives to their customers, organize a party for their old clients, and give bonuses like ever before.
I didn’t know she took what I told her seriously until one day ( I think about 3 months later), she threw a check at me (I won’t tell you the amount) and told me that since she took heed to my advice, most of their old clients came back. In fact, she told me that their sales went high to the extent that the most expensive materials in their shop (I mean products work over $600) were sold within 5 days!
Now, let me relate this topic:
If you’re a blogger, and you can’t keep visitors keep coming back to your site then it means there’s something wrong. The success of your blog depends on returning visitors. My sister’s shopping mall couldn’t generate sales because they lost their old customers. It’s the same with you too as a blogger. Your old and returning visitors are very important. It’s important that you make them stay.
How can I make new visitors keep coming back to my blog?
Don’t worry, I’m going to reveal the secrets to you. These tips are actually, related to the advice I gave my cousin and I believe they’ll work for you if you apply them accordingly.
1. Start a forum
Everyone wants to be heard. We all want to voice our opinions and interact with our friends. We want to make more friends and know more people.
Hint: Start up a community. Start up conversations with visitors and give them the opportunity to voice their opinions. Just build a ‘sense’ of community and new visitors will become regular readers.
2. Start something like a web blog
Take Pat Flynn’s web blog for instance, he keeps a journal of himself through his blog and he receives thousands of visitors every month. If you want visitors to visit your blog everyday, start something like an online journal and keep it updated with latest news and happenings in your life and business.
You could put on a picture of you, your wife, your kids and the latest things happening around your business.
Hint: By doing this, you’ll be proving to your readers that you’re real and they’ll in turn, visit your blog, refer their friends and colleagues and also, purchase your product or service.
3. Update your blog with juicy, quality content
Quality content always wins!
In fact, this is the most known and effective method of attracting new visitors and keeping old ones. Update your blog frequently with quality content so that when visitors come, they will have something new and fresh to read on your site. If you know, you’re good at writing or you don’t have the time for it, then hire a professional web content writing service.
Hint: No one will want to read a blog that hasn’t been updated for 5 months or looks the same for 5 years, so ensure you keep your blog updated with quality contents. This is very importan.
4. Carry out surveys
Surveys are like ‘’communication pushers’’. They are forms of interactions you should consider adding to your site because they help visitors voice out their opinions.
Hint: Ensure you keep your polls or survey relevant to your target market so you’ll keep visitors interested.
5. Hold games– something entertaining
I’m a game addict– and be sure to find me on any blog that hold puzzles, quizzes, or games. It’s a good way to entertain your audience and keep them involved.
Hint: You can also hold quiz competitions and reward the winner with a cash incentive. Just do something unique– something that will keep your audience engaged.
