5 Ways to Get Your Guest Post Published

Guest blogging has been one of the most popular trends these days in the marketing realm. It is used to get higher traffic, boost authority, drive sales and helps your business or advertisement to be known to people around the world. No wonder there are a lot of people who are trying this out. Guest blogging is actually a very easy thing  to do, but you just have to do it right and properly.

So, here are the 5 ways to get your guest post published:

1. Do your homework.

As you try to look for a website to write a guest post, you have to make sure that you do your homework first. There is a need for you to check the background of the website. You have to know everything about the website, what is it all about, does it accept guest posting, what are the guidelines for guest blogging and the like. It is your responsibility to know all these things, that is why you have to research well about them.

2. Pitch

When you have finally known all the things about the website, then you may pitch for your guest post. Pitching for a guest post isn’t simply asking the moderator if you can write a guest post to their website. It has to be in a proper manner and you must be courteous and polite.

Of course, you are the one who is in need, so you better be nice. When you start pitching, always remember that you address it to the moderator himself. If you know his name, then try to address it directly to him. This will make your pitch more personal.

Moderators have known a lot of guest bloggers already and before you know it, they know what kind of a blogger you are through your pitch. That is why, as much as possible, you have to take your pitch in a whole new different level. Your message should not be something generic, rather it must be personal.

You have to start building a relationship with the moderator and you can then have a greater opportunity to get your guest post published. Also, you have to present him a preview of what you are going to write in his website. You must prepare a title for it, so that he will have an idea about it already.

3. Write your content.

After you have pitched for your guest post, then that’s the time for you to write your content. You have to remember that the content is always the king. Take time to write your content very well. You have to do some researching as well and you have to do your best in it.

Also, you need to make sure that the content you are writing is applicable to the website and the readers will learn from it. There is also a need to proofread your work. Your content must be free from any errors, be it in grammar, spelling or punctuation.

It must be written neatly and properly. Moreover, if you want to add pictures in your content, you have to insert them already. Remember to credit the owner of the pictures and don’t make it hard for the moderator anymore. You can do it on your own and things will be easier for the both of you.

4. Follow-up

The moment you have sent your content to the moderator, you have to wait for its response. If he says to you that your post will be accepted, but it isn’t published yet, then you may follow him up. All you have to do is to send him an email following up your post. Remember, you have to be polite and nice in asking for your post. Don’t stop until he replies, but you have to make sure that you don’t flood his email. Once a week is enough, until you get a response from him.

5. Promote

Finally, your guest post has been published. You have to promote it through your own social networking sites, so that people will be able to read it. And if the moderator sees that many people shared and liked your post, then most likely he will give you another chance to write a guest post to his website. Also, this will serve as a reference when pitching for another websites.

Thanks for sharing Ysabelle, that's pretty much the process each guest blogger should follow, what really makes the difference is to actually connect with the target bloggers before you pitch your guest post ideas, thinks like commenting and interacting with the blogger in their blog posts, sharing their blog via social media etc can really make wonders...

Great article and good tips. I want to add only that you must be active, you can not write good content if the content is "old". Take for example Google SEO, if you will write like it was in 2012 or even 2013 you won't succeed, because SEO changes monthly or even faster.:)
