Blogging can be fun, but a lot of “wanna be bloggers” have pre-conceived notions about blogging. These notions or myths restrict us from starting a blog and missing out on the fun of blogging 🙂

Below are 6 common blogging myths

Blogging is expensive
With the availability of open source blogging platforms such as WordPress, Tumblr, and Blogger, you can start and enjoy an income-generating blog without spending a dollar for it. Even plugins and performance booster tools for blogs are free! However, if you want to upgrade your blogs, you may have to spend some cash on site upgrades to adhere major search engines’ demands in crawling and indexing.

Blogging is only for computer geeks
You can be a computer geek by devoting your entire life to blogging, but you don’t need to be a computer geek to blog. I know a lot of bloggers who use only Microsoft Word and basic Web knowledge to achieve promising site rank and ROI for their blogs.

Blogging is only for introverts
This is completely wrong. Blogging can be used to create networks and connect to people outside the realms of your home. It is actually a method that can transform introverts to extroverts.

Blogging is a boring job
Blogging only becomes boring if you blog about mundane topics. However, if you make use of its power to reach other countries and people outside your life and network, you can actually find blogging as a very enjoyable lifestyle.

Blogging is only for degree holders and academically gifted people
This is a fallacy. There are popular blogs on the Web that are owned by college dropouts, jobless individuals, and has-been superstars. Blogging requires creativity and knowledge, not impressive resumes.

Blogging is only for popular people
The truth is that there are few popular people who blog. Famous people are often too busy with their schedules to spend some time just writing a sensible post. The more beautiful truth is that blogging has brought fame to many ordinary people. In fact, many people put up blogs in the hopes of becoming a celebrity on the Web.

Yes, that's the spirit for a blogger who wants to be successful at blogging. Although this article describes some of the myths surrounding blogging, it falls short of many other things that need to be made clear for newbie bloggers to start believing in the right things and not get carried away by all those misconceptions floating in the air in relation to blogging. We can not earn good amount incase we are running our blogs on free platform, I always prefer to have self hosting. also I also think blogger feels bored sometimes, but there are many remedies to it, blogging is just fun.

I would say these are blogging misconceptions rather than hoaxes. It's true that one usually has to have something to say in the online world in order to become a successful blogger, and being a highly active person willing to pursue one or several topics does help.

Blogging is for everyone that has something to say, that's what blogging is in my opinion. You don't have to check all the items on a list in order to become a blogger, you just start writing, sharing your thoughts and feelings (depending on what you want to blog about). Almost any type of people have or can start a blog, so no hoaxes for us we already know every man has the potential to be a blogger.

I can just agree with your comment for 100%! I think the same, that blogging is for anyone who has something to say. Maybe later there also could arise another question for how long time he/she will have what to say but that already is another question. To feel how it is to be able to reach amazing amount of visitors around all the world, to find out their thoughts about any topic, I think it's a great experience and not just that, so if anyone has an idea of creating a blog, simply go for it!

This kind of mindset will get you nowhere. This is the reason why you do have to be positive all the time if you decide to make a living from blogging. Blogging takes time but it can show you the golden spoon once it has pick up some traffic. If you don’t start with blogging then how can you know if these myths are indeed false or true?

Hey Warner, I love how you explained this. There are two things I can see with beginners in blogging (although I am one of those in a way too). They either think it is a piece of cake and get disappointed pretty fast, or they are scared to start so much, that they never do. Unfortunately, there are so many people I know that would be great bloggers, but are so scared of "getting online" that they never start doing it.

Primarily, blogging is one of the extrovert one because we can share our ideas through blog, and update informative post on blog and so on. And, it's one of the interesting job, not boring one :)

usually there is another blog myths which blog is not a fast money generator. To earn money in blog are not easy and fast. They are no easy job to earn a huge amount of money.

Hi Warner, I totally agree with all your points here about blogging hoaxes. Blogging is also for extroverts – a very good example for that is the travel blogger. They write about their travels on their blogs. Also, blogging only becomes boring if you think it is boring. Thanks for sharing this interesting post!

You really stated good points here Warner! Blogging is not boring. In fact it's fun and at that same time you're helping others to achieve their goals. It's a great way to hone your skills, build online relationship and strengthen your values.
