Become a ProBlogger With Your Blog

Blogging has been around for several years now, its impact as a social phenomenon and its power as a marketing tool is somewhat new.  Becoming a ProBlogger is not something that just happens, making thousands of dollars each month from their sites takes a long time.

When you are ready to start your own blog and become a problogger you first need to ask yourself what kind of blog you want to create. There are seven types of blogs that a you can create.

1. Personal Blogs – These types are very common, simply a problogger writes about his/her life telling their story and adventures.

2. Commentary – If a problogger has an opinion or attitude they can use it to share it with the world. Commonly political and religious bloggers fall into this category.

3. Instructional – This form of blogging teaches the viewers how to promote a website or how to make bread for example.

4. News – These are not necessarily about world or national news they maybe about their topics news in a niche.

5. Links – If you do not enjoy writing as much then you can create a list of sites on the web that your blog is about and create a short description with a link. Often these blogs tend to get many inbound links from the sites they have referenced.

6. Product/Reviews Reviewing products in a niche. These can be thinly veiled advertisements which often do not have much success.

7. Corporate – Companies have blogs to help customers, shareholders, and clients keep in touch.

Once you have decided the type of blog you want to create then you are ready to get started. You will choose a topic that you can write about consistently and generates a lot of interest, but does not have many competing blogs or websites.

As a problogger you will become an expert in your niche. You will start to write information for the blog and posting it several times each week.  Then you begin promoting the blog by engaging in link strategies, article sharing, using effective keywords, and joining social networks to mention a few promotional methods. Soon your blog will have a following of readers regularly and some non-regular that will find you just by searching out your content.

Becoming a problogger or anything “PRO” takes time, hard work and confidence what you make of it is up to you.  Good Luck in your new adventure in blogging.

No offense, but I haven't seen any single tip on becoming a problogger. I mean the article is good but the title is kind of like misleading. Just my 2 cents.

I think my blog is a little instructional and a little of product reviews. I am trying to have posts that are useful to people just starting out. Since I am a complete newbie to blogging and online marketing I started in a coaching program in February. I am very excited about what I am learning and the progress I am making. With that I am posting about what steps I am taking at the moment and then adding in some reviews of products that I am using to make it happen or finding along the way. Thanks for all the great comments from everyone. Hey just a side note my blog is on Google's first page yesterday and today. Today it is number 4:) in the search for my keywords!!! Lisa

I have always been confused with the 'Pro' in 'Pro blogger'. Is it a professional blogger or a blogging pro? Four years into blogging, I am still trying to figure that out :)
ZK May 28, 2011 - 11:36 am
I would take it as being a Pro - active blogger :)

I am going to go with Professional Blogger. I don't think that any one blog or website alone can make you that income. It is the triangle you create among your sites and a few extra's. By no means am I an expert. I think it is a combination of things. I am trying to work each site so that it helps the other. I write an article for my website, I will then try to blog about it then I use twitter to shout it out. I am not good with Twitter only have 4 posts or so but in any event. It is also selling books on Amazon through HubPages or your blog. Earning an income online is much more then just blogging, many probloggers have more then one website. They are doing other things like guest speaking or writing e-books to generate more income. They are not simply writing a post or so a day waiting for the ads to be clicked. I could be wrong but in my brief experience online it takes a lot of time and patience to become a problogger. Lisa

It depends on your strategy. If you're hoping to earn money from adsense ads for example then I would say you're very unlikely to earn $100 a month within 60 days. It is a lot of hard work but with 11 hours every day to work on your blog, you could earn some money but you really need to know what you're doing. Think about who you're writing for, what problems you are solving, who you can help and how you're going to get your blog in front of these people. Then just start. Too many people spend a lot of time thinking and then never actually do anything about it. If you are strong on persistence and are willing to learn, you can succeed. But it will take time. Problogger was set up in the days when blogging was brand new. Darren Rowse is a nice guy and set out to help people and it grew from there. But the days of being 'nice' and that being enough are gone. You need to have something unique to share with the world and be willing to work.
