An articulate blogger may sway his readers with words but a smart one will always say ‘more’ with an attractive picture. It is time to wake up to the fact that images add a lot of value to your blog. If you are unconvinced, read these five compelling reasons:
1. Individualize your post:
– The human brain remembers images more easily than words. Readers will associate your blog posts with their accompanying pictures and recall them quickly.
With this high recall value associated with imagery, they will know which post had a picture of the Egyptian pyramid, which one had the iPhone and which one had President Obama. Using free photos and images and giving credit to the photographer is a good way to add imagery for bootstrap blogs.
2. Make readers pause and stay:
– A wordy blog will get a quick glace through by most visitors, but one with interesting and attractive pictures will hold attention and make readers stay on the page. Of course, the picture(s) must be persuasive enough to get visitors to go through the content. But there is no doubt that even a single good picture helps.
3. Add ‘volume’ to your blog:
– Lazy bloggers love pictures! They give the illusion of a long and weighty blog, which is great if you want your blog to come across as a well-researched and authoritative one. If you pride yourself on (and are a little sensitive about) your blog writing abilities, look at it this way: Keep your blog tight, use brevity to best advantage and use pictures to support the written content. It’s a win-win.
4. Give your blog more visual appeal:
– A text-rich site without any or too few images lacks the visual punch that can make visitors stay on the page or move away from it. Use eye-catching pictures that get visitors’ attention and then direct it towards the written content.
5. Aid navigation within posts and make reading less exhaustive:
– Pictures are a great way to break big chunks of text in long blogs. They reduce that exhaustive feeling you get when you are reading continuous blocks of text.
Importantly, when you are interrupted while reading and cannot figure out where you stopped when you come back to it, a picture can help you locate that line/paragraph more easily. As you can see, breaking up your post with pictures has more than one advantage.
Besides the points discussed above, it’s fun to add pictures to blog posts. Try it; you won’t be disappointed.
