Wow, what a horrible thing to say! How would you feel if someone said that the content on your treasured blog sucks?
Not good at all…
Unfortunately this happens all too often. The illusion that blogging is a quick and easy way to make money is anything but. In actuality blogging is one of the slowest forms to make money online, and that can be specifically attributed to the content on your site!
In this post we are are going to break down a few reasons why the content on your site might be less than stellar, and just wasting time more than anything else.
No beating around the bush…
Let’s get started!
Your Blog Content Sucks Because…
It’s Generic Basic Knowledge!
There is nothing new and exciting about reading content that tells you how to setup and install a wordpress theme. Sure, there are going to be people who start their blog for the first time today and will need to know this information, but it’s already been written and done a thousand times over.
This isn’t just for all the wordpress and blogging based sites out there, it’s for all the basic knowledge posts that have already been reworded, tossed around and nearly impossible to rank on the main page of the search results for. Focus on real content that provides value to your current audience.
You Are Trying Too Hard to Make Money!
Every blog is successful for a different reason. Some blogs specialize in providing tutorials, while others may keep their audience updated with the latest entertainment and celebrity news.
If you are going to be throwing posts out there that are loaded up with affiliate links and tracking urls trying to get a commission off every link, it’s just tacky and your audience will notice.
The best way to make money with a blog is to gain the trust of your audience and you will make money off their ad placements and products that you truly recommend. Save the desperation of a few pennies per click for other places, but not on your treasured blog!
All of Your Content is All Over the Place!
No one wants to be the Jack of All Trades… yet some people still do… The same can be said for web sites and blogs. Everyone knows that the RICHES are in NICHES. Keep the focus on your blog content tight and don’t try to answer every top about internet marketing, or writing on the best blog themes one week, then the best televisions shows to watch this week.
Unless you have a blog that specifically is meant to jump all over the place and cover different areas of entertainment, marketing or blogging, make sure your focus and content is tight. This will make it much easier for you to gain a reader base, while also coming up with new and valuable content.
Does Your Blog Content Suck?
Now that you have an idea of the different types of problems bloggers and site owners face when it comes to content generation, take a look at your own sites and see if you fall into any of these categories. It’s not rare for someone to make these mistakes with their first blog, but it’s not something you would want to continue down the road. It’s way too cheap and easy to start a new blog under a new domain name to keep your content focused on one specific niche.
