The Content on Your Blog Sucks… Here’s Why!

Wow, what a horrible thing to say! How would you feel if someone said that the content on your treasured blog sucks?

Not good at all…

Unfortunately this happens all too often. The illusion that blogging is a quick and easy way to make money is anything but. In actuality blogging is one of the slowest forms to make money online, and that can be specifically attributed to the content on your site!

In this post we are are going to break down a few reasons why the content on your site might be less than stellar, and just wasting time more than anything else.

No beating around the bush…

Let’s get started!

Your Blog Content Sucks Because…

It’s Generic Basic Knowledge!

There is nothing new and exciting about reading content that tells you how to setup and install a wordpress theme. Sure, there are going to be people who start their blog for the first time today and will need to know this information, but it’s already been written and done a thousand times over.

This isn’t just for all the wordpress and blogging based sites out there, it’s for all the basic knowledge posts that have already been reworded, tossed around and nearly impossible to rank on the main page of the search results for. Focus on real content that provides value to your current audience.

You Are Trying Too Hard to Make Money!

Every blog is successful for a different reason. Some blogs specialize in providing tutorials, while others may keep their audience updated with the latest entertainment and celebrity news.

If you are going to be throwing posts out there that are loaded up with affiliate links and tracking urls trying to get a commission off every link, it’s just tacky and your audience will notice.

The best way to make money with a blog is to gain the trust of your audience and you will make money off their ad placements and products that you truly recommend. Save the desperation of a few pennies per click for other places, but not on your treasured blog!

All of Your Content is All Over the Place!

No one wants to be the Jack of All Trades… yet some people still do… The same can be said for web sites and blogs. Everyone knows that the RICHES are in NICHES. Keep the focus on your blog content tight and don’t try to answer every top about internet marketing, or writing on the best blog themes one week, then the best televisions shows to watch this week.

Unless you have a blog that specifically is meant to jump all over the place and cover different areas of entertainment, marketing or blogging, make sure your focus and content is tight. This will make it much easier for you to gain a reader base, while also coming up with new and valuable content.

Does Your Blog Content Suck?

Now that you have an idea of the different types of problems bloggers and site owners face when it comes to content generation, take a look at your own sites and see if you fall into any of these categories. It’s not rare for someone to make these mistakes with their first blog, but it’s not something you would want to continue down the road. It’s way too cheap and easy to start a new blog under a new domain name to keep your content focused on one specific niche.

Good point about the affiliate links Zac. Kudos to you. Whenever I read a post that has a boat load of affiliate links I usually just bounce off the page quickly and rarely come back. Currently I'm testing the Columbo close and putting my affiliate link in the p.s. You know the one. It goes something like this... "One more thing, if you're having a hard time with x,y,z, then talk to a buddy of mine. He's got all the answers=>Link" It goes back to what I was taught years ago. Marketing online is 95% information and 5% selling. When we try to reverse those...we fail. Good post chief!

It is surely not easy to write something which is truly unique and original these days, as a lot of topics have already been covered. For my blog 100Webhosting.com, I constantly need to think to come up with new content every day. Perhaps I should put up a form to let my readers suggest what I should write, what do you think?

I am agreed on this thing create a new article it's difficult to do but if you will try to do this after make your schedule then i don't think so you will need to face any kind of problem in that.

Hi Zac, Yes – this (personally) I think accounts for a large – or even majority of websites and blogs. When blogging – focus on quality rather than quantity. This is one of the basic mistakes people tend to make when blogging – especially if they earn from their blog. Then they become too desperate for traffic and lose focus on the quality of the content you offer the user.

Zac, I agree that content is key, and so is a great website. Not just pretty, but having the key 17 ingredients. Website effectiveness is probably the first and most important thing to calculate and MOST forgotten! Your readers will benefit by watching the video here.

For blogging it is very essential to do your own research and write your own contents. Read a lot and do a lot of brain storming before writing killer contents. People will visit your blog to read new contents.

It is easy to say but hard to do because to write a unique and fresh content is not an easy thing however if you have absolute fresh and unique content definitely you can boost your blog and can get a lot of traffic as well as increase search engine visibility.

Hey Zac, I definitely agree with you, but I do think there are times where it's good to have some "basic knowledge" stuff on your blog that has already been written about thousands of times. I just don't think your blog should be full of it with nothing unique. To be honest, how many topics are out there on internet marketing that haven't already been written about? Probably not that many. Yet there are still tons and tons of people with successful blogs who write on this stuff every single day. Most information is in some way "rewritten" from something that came before it. As another example, if I have a blog about computer tips, I might want to have a post about "How to copy and paste" which has been written about all over the place. Why? Because I want to provide my readers with as many answers to their questions as I possible can. I don't want them to have to go to another blog to find those answers just because someone else has already written about copying and pasting. You also need to understand your audience. If I know most people visiting my blog are new to computers and the internet, then "generalized" and "common knowledge" articles might largely appeal to them. On the other hand, if most of my visitors already know that kind of stuff, then writing about it will probably just bore them and make them not want to come back.

research helps an awful lot, my problem is being able to constantly put out constant good quality content each time, writers block has a nasty habit of rearing it`s ugly head now and then.

The first two points are main factors where the content on the blog sucks! I think the information which you provide should not be simple or basic type in the blog. Only for making money if you are trying then it's not going to work, one cannot pay attention if wants to display content in just getting some amount. There must be some interesting insight for what users always look for.
