Last december, we blogged about Dell crossing $1 million in sales on Twitter, via its @delloutlet on Twitter.
According to company officials at Dell, its presence on Twitter has earned it more than $2 million in revenue. The Dell company blog explains, “Since we started back in 2007, we’ve not only earned more than $2 million in revenue from the @delloutlet on Twitter, but we are also seeing that it’s driving interest on new products as well.”
Officials at the company say, “There is a huge flow of people comming from @delloutlet on Twitter to the main website Dell.com/outlet site, and then ultimately deciding to purchase a new system from elsewhere on Dell.com, if we factor those new system purchases that come from @Delloutlet, we’ve actually eclipsed $3 million in overall sales.”
Dell outlet now has over 600,000 followers, that respond positively to the Twitter exclusive offers and deals. The below chart shows the growth over the last 3 months when they began to introduce more exclusive offers at that time Dell had only 11,000 followers on Twitter.
Dell also has other deals on Twitter via other Dell Twitter properties like @DellHomeOffers and @DellSmBizOffers but @DellOutlet continues to be the most popular Twitter property with a mix of Twitter exclusive offers. The @DellOutlet is now getting close to the Top 50 most followed Twitter users according to TwitterCounter.

The fact that Dell has been benefited to such a larger extent in augmenting its business sales reflects the potential of Twitter in enhancing your business brand value! This is terrific stuff.
Really good marketing is to find out what people want and give it to them. Twitter marketing success works the same way. The more relevant our tweets are to people, the more well received they are, and the more authoritative when we come across to them.
Wow, seems that Dell did a great job in Twitter! 3 million is a huge figure man! Btw, I’m still on the way in building twitter follower, I would create something to sell in Twitter later. How about you ZK?

A ton of real estate agents are using Twitter and I suspect it’s more fun than profit in our industry. I seen numbers putting 10% of Twitter users posting 90% of the tweets. Although I have a decent presence on Twitter, the jury is still out on the viability as a lead generator.

I heard that Google is taking over. Google owns everything, probably one day even the world.
The trick is branding yourself to get followers, then your message will be sent out to millions. Each update to Twitter can be found by anyone using the Twitter search feature (in theory, but no one is listening to that on a mass level).
Once when you posted that twitter earned 1 million, i told that it is not to high and it will increase lots. I think it will bounce more in near future.

Twitter be bought by Google? They’d have to pay waaaaay too much for it. It’s more likely that Google will buy a competitor to Twitter and then develop that itself, and try to offer it as an alternative. It’ll have to offer something else entirely to take over the monster that has become Twitter 😛
When you think about it, $2 million dollars over 2 years for Dell isn’t a great deal of money, but i guess twitter is a good marketing tool to have in the mix.
