A blog or a web log was intended to be a personal diary of sorts on the Internet, one that you wanted to share with your friends and anyone else who wanted to read it. But today, unless you’re a celebrity of sorts or write the most scandalous things on your blog, it’s impossible to sustain a high level of traffic on a blog that details your personal life and all that is associated with it.
In general, there are a few niches that remain popular throughout the years:
Technology: The technology juggernaut rolls on and stops for no one, not even for time. It’s the one thing that is advancing by leaps and bounds, and when you stay on top of all the news from the world of technology and report it on your blog, you’ll find that it generates a high volume of traffic. The key to making your blog different from all the technology sites out there is to personalize what you write, and tone down (or up) the level of sophistication and complexity to the level of your readers.
The Internet: Who wouldn’t want to read about the latest news on the evolution of the Internet? Social media is what rules the roost today, and with Facebook, Twitter and others providing more than enough fodder for blogs, it’s easy to find something relevant and interesting to write about. And with all the scandals and muck being raked about regarding privacy issues, the silent and not-so-silent wars between Facebook and Google, and the never-ending stream that originates from social media, you’re never going to run out of topics to write about.
Health: People are waking up to the fact that health is becoming an important issue nowadays and that everyone is looking for ways to become healthier. So include news from the health industry, ways and methods to exercise safely and healthily, and diets for all reasons and seasons. There are so many sub topics on this subject and each of them have enough material to fill their own blog, so you could choose a niche within health or go all out and cover any general topic that relates to health.
Beauty: Mankind craves for attention – its a social need, the beauty markets across the global have shown increasing growth years after year. No doubt the market and demand is big, if you can blog about a sub niche like skin care or hair care you have a good chance of building a community around the beauty conscious audience.
So you see how blogs can be popular over time, if only you choose the right topic and know how to put the right spin on what you choose to write about.
