A blog or a web log was intended to be a personal diary of sorts on the Internet, one that you wanted to share with your friends and anyone else who wanted to read it. But today, unless you’re a celebrity of sorts or write the most scandalous things on your blog, it’s impossible to sustain a high level of traffic on a blog that details your personal life and all that is associated with it.
In general, there are a few niches that remain popular throughout the years:
Technology: The technology juggernaut rolls on and stops for no one, not even for time. It’s the one thing that is advancing by leaps and bounds, and when you stay on top of all the news from the world of technology and report it on your blog, you’ll find that it generates a high volume of traffic. The key to making your blog different from all the technology sites out there is to personalize what you write, and tone down (or up) the level of sophistication and complexity to the level of your readers.
The Internet: Who wouldn’t want to read about the latest news on the evolution of the Internet? Social media is what rules the roost today, and with Facebook, Twitter and others providing more than enough fodder for blogs, it’s easy to find something relevant and interesting to write about. And with all the scandals and muck being raked about regarding privacy issues, the silent and not-so-silent wars between Facebook and Google, and the never-ending stream that originates from social media, you’re never going to run out of topics to write about.
Health: People are waking up to the fact that health is becoming an important issue nowadays and that everyone is looking for ways to become healthier. So include news from the health industry, ways and methods to exercise safely and healthily, and diets for all reasons and seasons. There are so many sub topics on this subject and each of them have enough material to fill their own blog, so you could choose a niche within health or go all out and cover any general topic that relates to health.
Beauty: Mankind craves for attention – its a social need, the beauty markets across the global have shown increasing growth years after year. No doubt the market and demand is big, if you can blog about a sub niche like skin care or hair care you have a good chance of building a community around the beauty conscious audience.
So you see how blogs can be popular over time, if only you choose the right topic and know how to put the right spin on what you choose to write about.

I think also the entertainment!
That’s exactly what I wanted to say. Entertainment works best in a matter of traffic, but it’s hard to monetize.
I agree with you on that one, especially since cell phone are becoming more like mini pc’s
As four niches that always works, also there are plenty potentials on subniche to avoid high competetion and get quicj traffic to generate sales.I have done this and although the conversions still slow but it will works
Hi Bailey,
I think you have forgot one big niche; Gossips blogs. I see it over here in Europe and they are big with the latest with all rumors, scandals and everything around it.
Nice Idea Marbella . Will try to get more info about it. But what about adsense earnings on that
how to make money and health will always be popular . how to make money niche is saturated just like health , but great targeted seo can do wonders
i personally feel , there is no end to opportunities. one need to find new ways and get along with it [white hat way] ….
There might be some new fields coming for blogging which will become popular day by day.
you can just blog about everything … any product , as you can see me
Yes you are right, Health is one of the biggest niches a long with internet marketing niche!
I think the housing sector can be added to the list. Whether, mortgage, real estate, and/or home improvement, there seems to be a plethora of blogs to fill a niche. Of course, I have a personal bias on that one, eh Bailey! 😉
I agree with these blog niches, they are really always remain popular especially from my point of view technology and health.
I would definitely agree with all those topics with the exception of the “internet” topic, not too sure about that one, in terms of always having something to talk about, but the others such as Technology definitely a topic that is, will be, and has always been popular, and you constantly have something to talk about.
I think earn money and health blog is always on top position. Any blog related to human problem and solving is always being appreciated.
Yeah a nice list and i agree these categories will survive, but i would no longer call them a niche
These are all great niches that will always remain popular but they are very saturated. Everyone wants to know how to be healthier so that niche will always stay popular.
Health blogs are always high paying due to high CPC , and more chances of selling …
@Bidet, it is saturated for sure, but if you are able to hone on a specific area of the health industry and really have a unique enough approach and that competitive advantage, then it is always possible to tap into even a saturated niche/industry.
Till then,
Jean
anything that has chances of selling , is a good nice . but something like hollywood wallpapers , will earn only pennies 😛
correction *niche
Interesting choices. Indeed I think they will always be in the top list among the popular choices for blogs. Too bad not all blogs share valuable information.
These all are really good niche topics, we find out lots of posts and visitors for these topics.
The four topics you describe here are hot topics. Maximum people want to know about them. 80% women wants to know about beauty tips, Students wants to know about internet, Person working in office of field interested in Technology and of-course 100% of us want to be healthy. SO why not these be most popular?
Soo, money making (or marketing) isnt a popular niche, Ok that’s a surprise I guess people this days dont need money anymore :).
I guess if anyone see a title like: “Make money know sitting on your chair” (if they wouldnt know much about the internet) they would click it before even getting to “… on your …”!
True, I fall in technology. Many making money out of technology blogs these days. Internet, Health and beauty is always be ever green because people need them no matter what age it is.
Another thought is that while these topics will always be popular – if yo uare starting your own blog it’s generally advisable to go a little more niche so as to avoid facing huge competition.
I have read this article.Really you share nice information in this article.i think it will be helpful for all internet users. Please keep sharing such informations…
I agree with you , before choosing a niche it should be kept in mind that it is profitable and long lasting too. I feel these days the nest niches are design n branding.
This is great advice, and carries over to people who aren’t trying to make money with their blog, per se, but are using it to help build a platform for something one step removed. I work with writers all the time, for example, and most of them blog to connect with potential fans and supporters
I think any blogger shouldn’t think of money at 1st. As suggested in the post he should write for topic he/she has interest or passion. The key is Quality contents and original, with the passage of time traffic grows than he can earn some money from blog also.
Beauty is and will always be one if the top niches! Woman are big spenders and a great market to target!
I think that you can break these 4 segments you mentioned into at least 12 more sub segments. For instance, on the health side there’s fitness, dance, swimming, diet, organic living, and so on and so forth. What do you think about that?
Indeed technology is a niche that would never die. Manufacturers are coming up with so many technology each month, people can hardly keep up at all. Thanks to people who blog about, now they can.
What is more important in what you want to write about is that you should have the knowledge and have interest be passionate about the topic..
but sometimes there are products and searches that you can target analysing the search traffic using google insight
I think health and beauty blog is one of the most popular blog round the world today.
I think just about any niche can be very popular. It is not the topic that matters, it is the writer. If one is a true expert on any subject his opinion will always be in demand.
I also think that blogs are the future of the internet. I also have found a few sites that help me find great niches for my blogs. I use Amazon, Ebay, and 43 things. These sites enable me to come up with great niches for my blogs that I build. I also use Google external keyword tool along with it to dominate the search engines.
do i really need to put a niche on my blog? I write all i want on my blog
