Good Morning Sunday: Ric Elias – 3 Things I Learned While My Plane Crashed

Hudson River Plane Crash

Once you come close to a near-death experience or a fatal accident you realize the value of life…life does a flashback, you realize you haven’t done what you really wanted to do with life.

Ric Elias talks about three valuable life lessons he learned while his plane crash landed in the Hudson River in New York in January 2009.

Ric had a front row seat on Flight 1549, he talks about what went through his mind as his plane went down.

Watch his talk

“I no longer want to postpone anything in life. That urgency, that purpose, has really changed my life.”

“I no longer try to be right; I choose to be happy.”

“I regretted the time I wasted on things that did not matter with people that [do] matter.”

Below is the clip with images of the crash.

“I no longer want to postpone anything in life”, that’s so true of life….a lesson I’ll take from Ric’s talk.

Life is a great teacher, it teaches valuable lessons during tough times. Share with us if you had any such lessons from life.

Have a Super Sunday, Enjoy Life and Be Healthy. Have a great week ahead.

This is an excellent and inspiring post. I was in a car accident in November and everything changed for me, too. I no longer waste time on petty disputes and prefer to be happy instead. I also stopped postponing things – I had a concussion and realized what if I didn’t get to do certain things, achieve my goals? It was certainly a wake-up call.

A near-death experience can drastically change a person’s perspective in life – they will value the love they take for granted from their loved ones, and try to live harmoniously instead of wasting time quarreling with others or doing things that don’t really matter.
Thanks for sharing this inspiring post, ZK! Watched the video the 4th time, and I’m happy for Ric that he survived and wanted to change for the better.

I agree that in life this is the time when you face the death in front of you and you learn some most valuable things from it and that becomes your lifetime memory.
