Despite the whole hullaballoo around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S3 Mini, another unannounced handset dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Premier, also known as the GT-I9260, gets leaked online through an actual press shot which emerged from leading German mobile computing site MobileGeeks.
Even back in August, rumors about a new device bearing the same model number and codenamed “Superior” began circulating in various tech sites, blogs, and forums but none of them has been confirmed other than earlier information that the new device would be a revamped version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GalNex).
However, based on the leaked image of the GT-I9250 obtained from MobileGeeks, the handset is in fact an upper mid-range TouchWiz device, like what posters at the Android Central Forums had earlier speculated.
The rumoured Samsung Galaxy Premier GT i9260 has the following specifications:
Screen
The Samsung Galaxy Premier GT i9260 is slated to sport a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD screen similar to what the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has. It is a few inches smaller, however, to the Super AMOLED HD screen carried by the Samsung Galaxy S3, which measures a whopping 4.8 inches.
Processor
While the Galaxy S3 contains a 1.4 GHz Cortex A9 quad core processor, and the Nexus a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the up-and-coming middle child will run on a 1.5 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, meaning it’s not much of a big deal considering that the normal Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) installation runs smoothly even on something clocked at 1.2 GHz. It looks like the CPU isn’t that great especially if we’re talking about a higher end market.
Camera
Compared to the GalNex, which sports a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, the Galaxy Premier will be a steal since the Galaxy S3 pretty much carries the same number of megapixels at 8 MP (the battle will come down to the resolution, the pixel density [pixels per inch or ppi], and the number of colors it will eventually have).
Ultimately, it goes the same for the front-facing camera on the device – the leaked smartphone’s is going to be a winner. The Galaxy Premier’s 1.9 megapixel front camera, which is also present in the Galaxy S3, is already eons away from the 1.3 megapixel one found in the Galaxy Nexus.
Memory
The Samsung Nexus Premier will possibly come with a 16 GB internal storage; but it’s highly likely that it can be expanded from 16 to 32 and 64 GB with its SD card slot, but we can only speculate.
The remainder of the specs list reveals that the device will have HSPA+ connection speeds of up to 21mbps and will run on the latest Android release. The German mobile site has also said that the Premier smartphone model will be sold for around 500 euros beginning this December.
Whether the Samsung Galaxy Premier is just a bump-up of the highly successful Galaxy Nexus and even if it falls a bit short from the capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the possible November arrival of this device will once again make Samsung fans’ tails wag.

Hi Monique,
Another new model from Samsung huh? Reading and looking at the specs, the GT-I9260 or Samsung Galaxy Premier sure looks great, and I love the fact that it has a 1.9 MP front camera and 8 MP rear camera. I am very curious as to how much this new phone will cost once it is out in the market. Thanks for sharing!
That’s true guys! No wonder Samsung is liked by many people. It’s because of its great specs and look, right?
@Felicia, I am hoping that the price is not that expensive. If that happens, I am going to grab one!
