I will rate SEO as an active partner and Social Media as an sleeping partner. Both have their own importance. But SEO works as wonder for fore-ever traffic.

In SEO you only start getting the traffic when you keywords start appearing in rankings and on good positions. So using social media in the meantime can be a great resource for driving traffic to you website. This helps in rankings too.

This is a great article about the relationship of SEO and social media.

I also think that prior to learning these two things and understanding how they interact, we should first focus on the content for the site we’re building.

Hi Sohaib,
2 small tips every time you put in a new post or article;
First, in the text with a minimum of 200-250 words must you repeat the Title keywords 3 times each.

Second, you must have an anker text who reflects your website in every social media you write comments in or a guest post ect.

Work with these 2 small SEO rules and can you maybe going to be number 1 very soon in the SERP.

Actually, seo is the real process for bossting traffic and getting your site improved well in search engine but nowadays smo also stands in a queue where seo has been. There are very sharp results from these two and thus they have made a beautiful combination.

Its best if you can win on both..the recent trend has been that users are spending more time on social networks like facebook and twitter, less on Google.

Yes with trends like that marketers certainly can’t ignore social media. The key to internet marketing is diversification. You never want to be relying too heavily upon one traffic of income source. That is much too risky. If you have multiple traffic sources, you are that much more secure.

Both give a new avenue to connect with customers and other people. Social connections are instant and direct. It is also something that is accessible to the average individual.

It seems like many social networking sites and social media sites have a strick nofollow policy on all links that are placed on their pages. For example a link in the youtube description of a video is a nofollow. What is your opinion on these nofollow links on these social media sites?

Both SEO and Social Media go hand in hand, they will never act as one though and always keep their separate purposes.

What best combination! – Social Media and SEO
Social media helps to mark the biggest footprints online and SEO optimizes to rank better in SERPs. The time has come to run far from the habit of ‘build it and rest will follow’ attitude and spend time in carefully branding by provide rich, valuable content via multiple platforms including Social Media. To be most frequently visited one has to be active on social media sites as being like a non-existent blogger, taking up space in the already crowded blogoshere is just useless. Coming to SEO, I think these days 90% of it revolves around building quality backlinks and more a blog has inbound links more is the chance for it to stand out prominently in Search results. And yes, you are correct and I agree to what you have pointed out – Link Building needs Social Sharing, You stuff on social media sites can’t make its mark without search engine boost.

Thanks for sharing you thoughts and ideas on this Win-Win Combination.

As everyone has said – the 2 work hand in hand. It used to be just SEO but now SMO has become so increasingly more important and should be a part of any major online marketing campaign.

@ Sohaib : Using facebook is one of the best ways to use social media for your benefit . Facebook has all type of users . so you got the chances to make sales . But sites like twitter and linkedin is used by mostly pro users who actuallly dont generate any clicks . I like to make links from social forums like digital point. great way to get backlinks

Well one doesn’t go without the other, that is plain simple.

Just take real products for example, a product that is sold in a regular store on the corner, it can be the best product and it can be featured in the best stores around town, but if there isn’t someone to carry the buzz the product won’t become popular and in return the sales won’t be that great!

The same is with SEO for a blog or website and their products or services when compared to social media.

Hi Sohaib, before reading this post I thought SEO is a competitor of social media. I agree that both SEO and social media must be working together to achieve ultimate optimization. I believe that Google is already working on incorporating these two optimization strategies.
