Making money blogging is definitely possible by monetizing it in different ways but the real question is, when to monetize it ? Becoming a successful blogger takes time and you have to also do the right things. A lot of bloggers have admitted that they started monetizing their blog right from the start and some others have started monetizing it after a few months.
There is no question that it takes time before you start to make money from your blog so is monetizing right off from the start a good idea ? No, it isn’t. Why ? There are several reasons why and the main one is that you aren’t gonna make money without traffic. Another reason can be that your visitors will think that you created a blog for the main reason of just making money with it and not offering value. Remember that any blogger’s goal is to write quality content for their readers.
Here are some standards you should follow before monetizing a blog:
- Have At Least 30-50 Posts
When you start writing posts, you will notice that they index on Google. This means that you will start generating organic traffic and exposure. The more indexed posts you have on Google, the more organic traffic you will generate! 50 posts aren’t a whole lot but it’s enough for you to start monetizing your blog. Blogging often can definitely help you out.
- Wait At Least 6 Months
Some top bloggers have waited up until 6 months before monetizing their blog and the first method they used is obviously Google Adsense. It’s better you wait until you have enough content before monetizing your blog and within the first 6 months, it’s not easy to have a huge number of posts. It is recommended you wait a few months before monetizing your blog . Overloading your blog with ads within the first months is obviously not recommended.
- You should atleast have 100 unique visitors a day
In order to make money blogging, you would need traffic. It’s hard to make money with Google Adsense for example if you have fewer then 100 unique visitors a day. Keep track of your traffic stats and you will be able to know the right time before monetizing your blog! If you start generating more traffic then this then you should be pretty comfortable to start monetizing your blog.
This is one of the most critical and under utilized by bloggers, not all bloggers realize the importance of building and managing an email list. The money is in the list, start building your email list as soon as you go online with your blog. In a matter of a few months you’ll have a huge email list of loyal users willing to listen to what you have to say to them.
The email list will help you monetize your blog. WebTrafficROI uses Aweber, it’s the best email service you can use for your blog. Aweber offers a $1 Trial account for new customers. The trial offer has all the features of a regular account offers unlimited email campaigns, newsletter, broadcasts and follow ups.

Hey Fazal,
I agree with you that a blog should have a reasonable traffic before the monetization starts. I think the real urgency when a blog is new is some kind of list building windows like opt-in forms.
thanks for the comment Alexis! exactly, building a list should be done from right off the start but not monetization!
I agree with you. We should not try to monetize our blog too soon, we should wait until we have enough readers or traffic, and have at least 30 to 50 posts. Most importantly, publish quality content!
🙂
Even after reading this quality post, many people will still have more ads than posts on their blog.Because, thats human being.
Without traffic no one can make money fro blogging . So first start creating contents for your blog and after that way to increase that traffic the you can make handsome income from blogging
I think that you should monetize your blog from beginning so that you do not loose on any little money that might have been offered to you.
The good news is that even if you don’t make as much money blogging as you’d hoped, you can always sell your blog. This is a helpful resource for those wanting to start a blog or make some more money from the one they already have.
Totally agree man. Three years back I did the dump mistake of putting all affiliate banners and AdSense blocks without having enough content. It was really frustrating. I would say that 100 user thingie should be more about organic visits because 50 of your friends visiting with initial enthusiasm is not going to help anyhow 🙂
The best time to moetize your online business, its when you have sett all the things exactly and properly – on page sett up done corect – quality content added and info that’s ready to attract and maintain the visitors – and obvious a good off page sett up..
I think that it makes sense to monetize blog from the very beginning, but keep in mind that you will begin to receive revenue when you blog becomes popular.
I agree mostly with that.
Certainly putting a ton of glaring ads on your site is a turn off for any visitor.
I’ve been to some blogs and its hard to find the content there are so many ads!
Of course, building a list IS monetizing your blog. And that should be within the first few posts.
Other than that I would suggest a few links to relevant sites where an affiliate commission can be made.
Other than that, be patient and as mentioned above, let people who come to your site know that you have their best interests to heart.
Great post and tips regarding the monetazing the blog. Do agree than Less then 100 visitors / day is rarly making any money
thnx
Must read by beginner level bloggers who are so curious in monetizing and do make mistakes.

I appreciate these tips you have shared. I honestly don’t have any idea when would be the perfect time to put ads on my blog. Though I certainly know that I shouldn’t do that the time I launched my blog. Good thing I know I did the right thing, I might have spoiled all the ads if I let the excitement ruled me out from the start.
Nice post! GA is also my biggest earning. However, it’s not a much.
There are many more Ways to Monetize Your Blog – such as sponsored posts, and selling ad space, selling links on images through Adbrite. Today, it’s really easy to make $1000 as a blogger 🙂
This post was very helpful, I think I am close to monetizing my site.
